A Twist on Sunburst Mirrors

It seems that everyone got caught up in the sunburst mirror trend. Not only did I see them on just about every blog I follow (which is a lot, let me tell you) but I saw them popping up in almost every store from Crate and Barrel to Kohls! It's safe to say that I was starting to get a little worn out by the trend, until I saw this...

Four sunbursts on ONE wall? Who would have thought it would look so chic. And I'm loving the monochromatic color scheme in this room.

Reading Rainbow

I can't think of a better way to get inspired to read that great novel you have been meaning to read for months than to have your own fun & cozy reading nook.

Not only will a color coded book shelf help to give you extra storage and keep you organized, but it adds a fun flare to any room. And an extra plus? There is no need for paint in a room filled with some pops of color!

Stylist Shirley Kurata's L.A. Pad

There is nothing that I love more than to be able to get a sneak peak at the inside of insanely creative and stylish people's pads, so when I got my daily Refinery 29 e-mail this morning, I was beyond stoked. As you may have noticed, I stepped out of the blogging world over the holidays, but I'm back and I hope these next few pictures make up for my lack of posting.

The oh-so-adorable Shirley Kurata is an L.A. stylist known for her quirky yet polished sense of style. Not only is she a stylist to stars such as Zooey Deschanel & the Decemberists (to name a few), but she even styles for Rodarte! With such an amazing resume, it's easy to understand how she can decorate such an awesome apartment. She uses mid-century modern furniture and mixes it with pop-culture accessories and whimsical charm to create the ultimate dreamy pad.

Trust me, It won't disappoint.

This or That?

Hello loves! Hope you all had marvelous weekends.

Mine was very relaxing but went by far too quickly, as usual. I spent most of my time bundled up in my apartment due to the rainy weather, but on Saturday I did get my interior design fix by going over to a friends house and helping her figure out how to arrange her furniture in her new pad. Sometimes a little brainstorming and rearranging is all you need.

There may be a lack of blogging this week due to me trying to cram my week's worth of tasks into the next two days before I go away for the holiday (yay!) so sorry in advance. As I was searching through my archives this afternoon for some inspiration for a quick post, I noticed that I must have really been drawn to this bed frame because I had saved two pictures of it being used in two completely different ways.

The first is bold and bohemian, and the second is simple and chic.
What do you think- which style are you more drawn to?

DIY Gold Confetti Art

I guess I'm still feeling a little glitter crazy from my post yesterday because when I spotted this DIY project over on sadie + stella, I couldn't help from re-posting it for your interior design enjoyment.

Polka dots are a hot trend this fall, so what better way to incorporate them into your pad than to hang them up as focal point artwork? There is no need for artistic skills to conquer this DIY art project.

All you simply need is:

A Blank White Canvas
Construction Paper
(colors of your choice, but for an extra pop try adding two different shades, metallics, or, some of my favorites, GLITTER)
Scissors
Glue

Simply place your cut-out construction paper polka dots wherever your heart desires (no need for too many) and Wah-Lah! You have created your own masterpiece.

Metallic Cowhide Rug- This rug is just the right amount of funky and glam. Very expensive but oh so chic. You can find this here.

Sequin Pillow- Chevron stripes + rainbow sequin? I'm in love! Find this fun pillow here.

Apartment Dreaming

If I could dream up my ideal city apartment, it would be located in a quiet neighborhood of the city. It would be newly renovated, but still hold its old charm with elements like exposed brick walls. It would have pretty big windows with the quiet neighborhood's street views, and I would decorate it with victorian-inspired, velvet chaise lounges, fur throws and feminine touches, mixing the urban vibe with chic pieces.

In other words, it would be similar to this picture:

What about you? What would your dream city apartment look like?

Color Combination Crush: Pink and Blue

Luckily, my two favorite colors happen to be a great duo. Pinks and blues in a variety of shades compliment each other so well, and can make a statement anywhere from subtle to bold.

Friday Favorite: Contemporary Rustic Dining Room

I'm not usually the contemporary type, especially when it comes to dining rooms, but the way this room is styled with a mix between contemporary and rustic touches, I am totally won over.

I would love to know who designed this look!

Dream Closet

Man oh man, I love pinterest. It is overflowing with amazing inspiration and THEE best ideas ever....

Like this attic turned into one big, HUUUUUGE closet!!

You're speechless, right? Forget walk-in closets.

Sooo.... I have to have one of these at one point in my life.

Get the Look: Hipster Cowgirl

If you like the "Hipster Cowgirl" look as much as I do, check out a few of my favorite picks to go with the look below:

Country Love

I'm a believer that we all secretly have a little room in our hearts for some good old American country. Even though I hate to admit it- I have had Taylor Swift's greatest hits playing on repeat in my car for about a month! (Ridiculous, I know!) Everything about the country vibe is just so gosh darn cute! The great outdoors, cowboy boots, summer BBQ's- I mean come on, what's not to love?

So it's no surprise that I am going borderline crazy over what I like to call the "Hipster Cowboy/Cowgirl" look. It's a mix of country & industrial looks, and is slightly eclectic. I've already acquired my first AUTHENTIC deer skull (so cool!) from my best friend's Dad, who owns a pretty cool Indian Store in Murphy's, so I think I'm ready to start my "Hipster Cowgirl" collection.
