designer spotlight: Marie-Laure Helmkampf

it's hard to believe that this impressive french home was once a 19th century oil mill. the transformation from work place to a home was created by interior designer Marie-Laure Helmkampf. the neutral color palette and rustic touches through the house give it cozy feel, but the pop of pale blue in the stone adds an interesting touch. the mixture of vintage furniture & modern fixtures and tables give the house an updated look.

although the entire house was renovated to make the structure more solid, most of the materials were extracted from the original architecture of the mill such as the solid wood beams and stones.
